Since its inception in 1999, the amazing community of Working Bikes volunteers, staff, partners, and supporters have enabled new life for 100,000 bicycles across the globe and tens of thousands here in Chicago. Over one hundred thousand people have been empowered to access resources and opportunities that otherwise could have been out of reach - reducing waste, lessening pollution, and improving health in the process. Working Bikes is located in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood, and is a 501(c)(3) organization. LEARN MORE OUR MODEL Proceeds from our shop sales directly benefit our bike donation programs. The money raised ensures that we remain a sustainable organization, able to cover the costs of shipping to international recipients, transporting bikes from donors here in Chicago, buying new tools for our volunteer shop, paying our staff, and more. BIKE DONATIONS Working Bikes collects donated bikes from all over Chicago and the Midwest. These bikes are then shipped to international bike projects, repaired and donated locally to individuals and families in Chicago, or fixed up and sold in our storefront. Whether wrenching on bikes for donation in Chicago, packing a shipping container for one of our international partners, or tabling at an outreach event - volunteers help us do what we do! READ MORE STOREFRONT & REPAIRS Our storefront features all styles of bicycles for adults and kids, along with new and used accessories. We stock a large selection of used, vintage, and hard-to-find parts, and Working Bikes gear! We have also have a full service-department, staffed with a friendly team of expert mechanics. READ MORE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT Sustainability is at the heart of what we do! Every year, Working Bikes saves over 10,000 bikes from ending up in landfills, giving them new life in communities around the world and in our own backyard.
